Camshaft

Camshaft

RADO Engineering is a leading two wheeler camshaft manufacturer in Rajkot, Gujarat, producing precisionengineered camshafts for internal combustion engines across a wide rangeof motorcycle and scooter models. Manufactured from highgrade OEM 8620 alloy steel, RADO camshafts are designed to give optimum torque, smooth valve operation andextended engine life making them the preferred choice for aftermarket suppliers, distributors, and OEMcompatible fitment across India and international markets.

What Does a Camshaft Do in a TwoWheeler Engine?

The camshaft is the mind of your engine’s breathing system. It controls precisely when theintake and exhaust valves open and close during each combustion cycle, a process thatdirectly determines how much airfuel mixture enters the cylinder and how efficiently exhaustgases exit.

In a twowheeler engine, the camshaft rotates in sync with the crankshaft (at half the crankshaftspeed in a 4stroke engine), driven by a timing chain or timing gear. Each cam lobe on the shaftpushes against the rocker arm or tappet, which in turn opens the poppet valve against thetension of the valve spring.

The profile (shape) of each cam lobe; its lift height, duration, and timing, directly controls:

  • Engine power and torque output
  • Fuel efficiency and combustion quality
  • Engine smoothness at idle and high RPM
  • Valve train noise and longevity

This is why camshaft precision is nonnegotiable. Even minor deviations in lobe profile, surfacehardness, or shaft straightness can result in poor engine performance, excessive valve trainnoise, and accelerated wear

Product Overview

RADO Engineering manufactures camshafts using OEM 8620 casehardening alloy steel thesame material grade trusted by leading OEM manufacturers. Our camshafts are designed to suit a broad range of two-wheeler engines, from daily commuters to performance motorcycles.

Each camshaft is precisionmachined to OEM specifications, heattreated for surface hardness, and inspected for dimensional accuracy before packaging and dispatch.

Key Features

Optimum Torque Delivery

RADO camshaft lobe profiles are engineered to the exact lift and duration specifications required for each engine model, ensuring maximum torque at the designed RPM range. Accurate cam geometry means the engine breathes optimally at every speed, delivering the power and fuel efficiency the motorcycle was designed for.

Smooth Functioning

Precision-ground cam lobe surfaces and accurately finished journal diameters ensure smooth, low-friction contact with rocker arms and camshaft bearings throughout the engine's operating life. This results in quieter valve train operation and reduced mechanical noise at idle and under load.

Easy Installation

RADO camshafts are manufactured to OEM-matching dimensions, same shaft diameter, same lobe positions, same sprocket fitment, allowing straightforward drop-in replacement without any engine modification. This reduces workshop time and eliminates fitment errors.

Low Maintenance

Surface-hardened cam lobes resist wear, pitting, and scoring even under the continuous sliding contact with rocker arms. The result is a camshaft that retains its performance profile over a long operational life, requiring minimal attention between service intervals.

Durable Construction

Manufactured from OEM 8620, a nickel-chromium-molybdenum low-carbon steel, RADO camshafts combine a tough, fatigue-resistant core with a hard, wear-resistant surface after case-hardening. This dual-property structure is specifically designed for the high-cycle, high-load environment of a running engine.

Precision Cuts and Specifications

Every cam lobe is ground and finished to tight dimensional tolerances. Lobe lift, base circle diameter, flank profile, and nose radius are all held to specification, ensuring the valve events occur at the correct crank angle for each engine model. Shaft straightness and journal finish are verified to prevent oil film breakdown and premature bearing wear.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

RADO camshafts are made from OEM 8620 alloy steel, a nickel-chromium-molybdenum case-hardening steel that provides excellent core toughness and surface hardness after heat treatment.

RADO camshafts are available from 90mm to 160mm in length, covering a wide range of two-wheeler engine models from 100cc economy bikes to 150cc+ performance motorcycles.

Yes. RADO manufactures camshafts to OEM-matching specifications for Hero Honda Splendor, Passion, CBZ, Bajaj Discover, Pulsar, XCD, TVS Star City, Apache, Honda Activa, Shine, and Yamaha models.

The standard minimum order quantity is 100 pieces per model. For distributor and bulk orders, please contact us for volume pricing and lead times.

Yes. RADO Engineering supplies camshafts to international markets including Sri Lanka, Nepal, Bangladesh, Philippines, and Kenya. Contactus for export pricing and shipping terms.

Case hardeningcreates a hard outer surface layer on the cam lobes while keeping the inner core tough andductile. This surface hardness resists wear from continuous contact with rocker arms andtappets, while the tough core absorbs the impact and bending loads extending the workinglife of the camshaft significantly compared to throughhardened or unhardened alternatives.
